Working with the Audio-Labeling UI

Learn how to label and transcribe audio in Taskmonk.

  1. Click the My Tasks icon at the top of the page.
    The My Tasks page appears.

  2. Click the Get Tasks button adjacent to the project you wish to work on.
    The labelling UI associated with this project appears.

On top of the page, the following is displayed:

  • Menu Bar - The top-level menu provides access to the below functions.

  • Timeline: A chronological arrangement of audio events.

  • Timeline Header: The section that contains metadata or overview information for the timeline.

  • File Info: Metadata or details about the audio file.

  • File Name: The name given to the audio file.

  • File Extension: The format or type of the audio file, indicated by the suffix (e.g., .mp3, .wav).

  • File Duration: The total length of time the audio file plays.

  • Time Portal: Navigate to a specific timestamp in the audio file.

  • Choose Unit: Select the time format for specifying the timestamp.

HH: MM: Hours, minutes, and seconds format for precise time navigation.

MM: Minutes and seconds format for mid-length audio segments.

SS: Seconds-only format for short audio segments.

  • Playback Controls: Manage audio playback functions.

  1. Play / Pause: Start or stop the audio playback.

  2. Spacebar for Regular Play / Pause: Use the spacebar to toggle play and pause.

  3. Forward / Backward 10s: Skip forward or backwards by 10 seconds.

  4. Forward / Backward Segment: Skip to the next or previous segment.

5. Go to Start / End: Jump to the beginning or end of the audio file.

 

  • Loop: Control playback repetition settings.

  1. Loop Off: Play the audio file once without repeating.

  2. Loop Once: Play the audio file through one time and repeat it once.

  3. Loop: Continuously repeat the audio file.

 

  • Playback Speed: Adjust the rate at which the audio file plays.

  1. 0.25x: Play the audio file at a quarter of the normal speed.

  2. 0.5x: Play the audio file at half the normal speed.

  3. 0.75x: Play the audio file at half the normal speed.

  4. 1x (Default): Play the audio file at its original speed.

  5. 1.5x: Play the audio file at 1.5 times the normal speed.

  6. 2x: Play the audio file at twice the normal speed.

  7. 4x: Play the audio file at twice the normal speed.

 

 

  • Zoom: The Zoom feature allows users to adjust the scale of the content on the screen.

  1. Click the Zoom In icon to zoom into the waveform.

  2. Click the Reset icon to return the zoom level to the default setting of 100%.

  3. Click the Zoom Out icon to zoom out of the waveform.

  • Zoom Levels (Dropdown):

  1. Locate the zoom levels dropdown menu on the toolbar.

  2. Click the dropdown menu to display the available zoom levels.

  3. Select the desired zoom level (e.g., 50%, 75%, 100%, 125%, 150%, 200%, 225%, 250% & 500%) to instantly adjust the content size.

 

  • Hide / Unhide Segments: Double-click to open the list of segments with checkboxes next to it.

 

Shortcuts: The Shortcuts feature provides quick access to frequently used functions, enabling users to perform tasks efficiently with minimal navigation.
