Working with the NER-Annotation UI

Learn how to annotate text in Taskmonk.

  1. Click the My Tasks icon at the top of the page.
    The My Tasks page appears.

     

  2. Click the Get Tasks button adjacent to the project you wish to work on.
    The labeling UI associated with this project appears.

     

     


    You can see the following project details in the labeling UI:

    • Batch Name (Batch 1) in the top-left section of the page.

    • The text to be annotated.

    • Annotation labels and classes to the right of the text. Attributes associated with a class are displayed at the bottom-right of the page.

  3. Click View Docs at the top-right corner to view project documents.

  4. Click the Full Screen icon at the top-right corner to hide the application navigation menu.

  5. To annotate text:

    1. Drag to select the word or phrase that you wish to identify as a named entity.
      If only a part of a word is selected, the UI automatically selects the complete word for annotation. If you wish to enable part selection, set Project Settings > Annotation Settings > NER Auto-Complete Selection as false.

    2. Right-click on the entity of the selected word text to view all the available entities

    3. Select the appropriate class to label the selected text.

    4. Select applicable attributes on the bottom-right panel.

       

    5. Select Multiple Occurrences to label all the occurrences of a phrase in the text.

    6. ALT+Click to delete an annotation.

  6. To capture a NER Relationship:

    1. Press the Control key and click on a labeled named entity.

    2. A line originating from the entity appears. Click on a related named entity.

    3. The NER Relation selection dialog appears. Select the required relation.

       

    4. Click on the ! icon to edit the relationship, as required.

       

  7. Click

    1. Submit & Get Next Task to submit the current task and load the next task.

    2. Save & Exit to save the work done without submitting and return to the My Tasks page.

    3. Skip & Get Next Task to skip the current task without saving the result data and load the next task.

    4. Submit Task & Exit to submit the current task and return to the My Tasks page.
